Matthias Wickert was born on 20 October 1959 and currently lives in Biebergemünd-Kassel, Germany. In 2001, he moved from the IT department of the City of Hanau to the Department of Culture of the City of Hanau. There, he served as Head of Administration for 20 years and, from 2021, as Deputy Head of the Department of Culture, responsible for personnel, organisation and finance.
From 2006 to 2014, he was the commercial director of the Comoedienhaus Wilhelmsbad, a historic theatre built in 1781 in Hanau-Wilhelmsbad, which is also a member of PERSPECTIV.
He has been retired since 1 July 2024.
From 2010 to 2015, he served as route manager of the Germany Route of Historic European Theatres. From 2015 to 2024, he was Treasurer of PERSPECTIV, and since 2024 he has been the Managing Director of PERSPECTIV.
