Lamberto Tronchin is a civil engineer and acoustics expert, holding a Master’s in Civil Engineering, a Diploma in Piano Performance from the Conservatory, and a PhD in Room Acoustics from the University of Bologna.
He is the author of over 250 publications on musical and room acoustics, virtual acoustics, 3D audio, indoor environmental quality, and building thermophysics. He has served as an acoustic consultant for the restoration and reconstruction of historic theatres, including La Fenice in Venice and Teatro Galli in Rimini, and has led numerous national and European research projects on building physics and acoustic quality.
Currently, he works as Professor of Musical and Room Acoustics and Building Physics at the School of Engineering and Architecture, University of Bologna, and Principal Investigator for the SIPARIO Project, which studies the 3D acoustics of Italian opera houses and develops a dedicated visual and listening room using wave field synthesis for playback.
A member of PERSPECTIV since 2004, he has contributed extensively to the Association through acoustic measurements, research, and scientific publications, promoting the knowledge of historic theatre acoustics within academic and professional communities. He was elected to the PERSPECTIV Board in 2019, reflecting his longstanding commitment to the preservation and study of European theatre heritage.
